Corine Guseman
Ceramic Artist

"Working with clay is more to me than creating pots.... it's about building communities, sharing ideas, and encouraging others to find their own creative path"

Corine began working with clay as a pastime hobby during her career in the insurance industry. Fueled by her passion for clay she left the corporate world in 1999 to become a full-time ceramic artist. Studying a variety of artists' techniques and styles led her to develop her own unique creations.

Corine discovered with each ceramic piece that its design and creation is a conduit of energy. The impressions and carvings on her pottery are forged from memories of her youth, surrounded by the beauty of the canyon lands, the desert rock formations and ancient Indian art in Utah and Idaho.

Corine likes to share ideas with other artists, build communities by participation in local clay groups and teach others through adult education classes.

Corine is a former Affiliate Artist with McColl Center for Visual Art in Charlotte, NC, and member artist of Clayworks, past President of Carolina Claymatters and is published in the "Best of NC Artists & Artisans 2005", by Kennedy Promotions.

Corine and her husband Hal Dedmond, also a potter, live in Lawndale, North Carolina, in a 100-year-old home with their ground hog kiln, pottery studios and two cats.
