Ed Davis
Painter/Cartoonist

Born in California, Ed Davis served in the Army then settled in Texas to work at NASA and pursue a degree in Graphic Arts. He built a 35 year career and professional reputation as a Graphic Arts leader in Houston, broken only by periods of work in Europe and the Middle East. He has been an active cartoonist and painter since 1961 and moved to Shelby in 1999 to concentrate exclusively on these creative pursuits.

Ed's creations appeal to a variety of individuals and commercial markets. Magazines, newspapers, greeting cards, marketing, and advertising are his major cartoon outlets while his paintings are in private collections in California, Texas, Nevada, Oregon, Idaho, North Carolina, and Utah. He collaborated on a children's book when he illustrated “Ham & Eggs”...as yet unpublished.

Influenced by his love for travel, country music, sports, and his Christian faith, Ed tends to produce an off-beat brand of humor with international, redneck, thought provoking appeal. His paintings demonstrate his love for color, texture, and faith. He works primarily in acrylic and pen and ink on a variety of surfaces. Ed taught graphics as a substitute at the Houston Community College.
