In February 2002, Kay Young made her first quilt. Since then, she has created dozens of her art quilts.
An audiologist by trade, Kay Young is a quilter by passion. Since stitching her first quilt four years ago, Kay has earned numerous awards and recognitions for her creativity and workmanship in quilting design. |

In October 2004, Kay entered her first quilt show and walked away with the top prize. She won Best of Show for an intricately machine quilted wall hanging, which had earned first place in its category. She also won a first place ribbon in the bed quilt category at the same show. At the March 2005 Charlotte Quilters Guild Show, Kay earned two second place awards. |

In August, her "Cubed Passion" quilt was juried into the 2005 American Quilter's Society Quilt Exposition in Nashville, Tennessee, a national show featuring quilters from across the country. In October, Kay's work captured two first place ribbons in the wall hanging and bed quilt categories at the 2005 Foothills Quilter's Guild Show. She won additional ribbons for Best Use of Color and Best Machine Quilting at the show. |

In 2004, Kay spearheaded the creation of the Foothills Quilters Guild's donation quilt, which earned more than $3300 for the guild. The quilt "Circle Round" was also juried into the American Quilter's Society 2006 International Quilt Show. |
Kay has contributed a number of her quilts to raise money for several local charitable organizations, including the Cleveland County Mental Health Association, Shelby Rotary Club and American Red Cross.
