Born in late 1946 in the small delta town of Greenwood, Mississippi, Lou Lefler's love of things bright and shiny began as an admiration for her city cousin's collection of costume jewelry.
Much later Lou was introduced to the world of true hand crafted jewelry and artisans ranging from traditional silversmiths to the Navajo and Zuni artists of the American Southwest.

These designs became her preference over commercial products, truly believing that the artist leaves a little of her soul in each piece. |
| But, as with most of us, her dreams of jewelry design took a back seat to the practicalities of raising and educating a family until about 8 years ago. At that point, Lou left the world of Pediatric Ophthalmology to define and refine her skills in silver craftsmanship. |
She studied jewelry design and silversmithing under nationally recognized artist Barbara Joiner at the John C. Campbell Folk Art School in Murphy, NC, then settled into the technique of fine silver jewelry fabrication using the new medium of Art Clay Silver. |

Under the tutelage of innovative Master Artist Pam East of Atlanta, Ga., Lou has developed style combining a classic patinaed effect with a hint of Native American spirit and sense of color. Ultimately she was awarded the coveted certification as Art Clay Silver Artist/Instructor by Art Clay World. Most recently Lou has served as an assistant instructor to Pam East at John C. Campbell in the introductory Art Clay Silver Design course, and in an advanced Specialty Design course in metal clay, again at John C. Campbell. |

As with most artists in this medium, Lou's designs are unique, one of a kind pieces, and her hope is that you will treasure them as such. |
